From the creator

The original game

Counter-Strike: Source is the 2004 remake of Counter-Strike on Valve's Source engine. Terrorists and counter-terrorists play rounds and win by completing an objective, such as defusing a bomb or rescuing hostages, or by eliminating the other team. It holds 88/100 on Metacritic. Its movement is what the bunnyhop and surf sites rebuild.

The browser version

Surfd is "made by @0yield". It offers classic Source-style surfing at 66 tick with normal and auto bunnyhop movement, a practice mode with save and load position, replays and diagnostics (including a downloadable command replay), route watching and a checkpoint comparison against your personal best and the top verified run. The home page says there are 15 classic courses and features surf_boreas, a linear two-checkpoint course by Syncronyze.

It is not a decompiled game. Its reference page documents a reimplementation: a 66.67 Hz tick, Source SDK 2013 as evidence for the movement, input, mouse and field-of-view rules, and a target of Counter-Strike: Source "KSF forward style". Mouse look uses 0.022 degrees per count with raw input and no smoothing. Replays are re-simulated on the server before they count.

Ranked runs use auto bunnyhop with a capped start speed of 325 units per second on the ground and 350 in the air. Runs with unrestricted starts keep only local bests. Community servers have a server browser, non-colliding players and a 30-minute map duration. On October 7, 2026 the creator posted that Surfd "just got multiplayer"; the post is embedded above.

The reference page credits its sources: Valve's Source SDK 2013, RNGFix by jason-e, the Momentum mod, MomSurfFix by GAMMACASE and the KSF community, with map credits including Syncronyze, Panzer, Arblarg, elly, SnoopSh, SSStormy, TeMP, iNooVa, Kiiru, ArchAngel, Juxtapo, SintaxError and Paper-Cut. The character model is adapted from a CC0 pack by Wobble Blocks.
