Open the game page in desktop Chrome, Edge or Brave (or Chrome on Android) with hardware acceleration on, and expect a long first load while the engine downloads and shaders compile. It is an unofficial build by omonkeyzz that runs on your own device, not cloud streaming, and the site serves the game data itself. Coverage calls it experimental, players report freezes and missing sound, and no source code or method write-up is published.
The original game
Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person open-world role-playing game set in Night City, built on REDengine 4. Its launch was widely criticised for bugs and poor performance, especially on PS4 and Xbox One, and Sony pulled it from the PlayStation Store from December 2020 to June 2021. Later patches, update 2.0 and the Phantom Liberty expansion (2023) turned reception around, and the PC version scores 86 on Metacritic. Over 40 million copies had been sold by July 2026.
Directed by Adam Badowski, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and Gabriel Amatangelo; written by Marcin Blacha and Tomasz Marchewka; music by P. T. Adamczyk, Marcin PrzybyĆowicz and Paul Leonard-Morgan. Mike Pondsmith, creator of the Cyberpunk tabletop series, consulted on the story. Cyberpunk 2077 on Wikipedia
The browser version
Cyberpunk 2077 Browser is a fan project by omonkeyzz, who also made a browser Fortnite project at fortniteog.lol; Computerra and Playground.ru report that it was shut down after Epic Games intervened. The landing page counted down to October 22, 2026, 22:00 UTC, the same day as the official update 2.5, and early testers needed an access code until then. Russian outlets including Computerra, Habr, DTF, VGTimes and Playground.ru covered it from October 23. No statement from CD Projekt is published.
The game runs on the player's own CPU and GPU, not as a cloud stream. The engine is one WebAssembly file, cp2077.wasm (about 248 MB uncompressed), built with Emscripten and run on many worker threads. How the port was made, and whether it is a recompilation, a decompilation or something else, is not published.
The page needs 64-bit WebAssembly (memory64), shared memory with cross-origin isolation, and WebGPU with hardware acceleration. It recommends Chrome, Edge or Brave on a desktop PC or Chrome on Android, with on-screen touch controls on phones; Firefox is not supported yet. A separate 32-bit build for iPhone and iPad sits at /game/ios, and Playground.ru describes iOS as planned. Only one game tab can run at a time.
The site serves the game data itself, so no copy of the game is asked for. The file list the engine loads has 20 files totalling about 41 GB (archives, scripts and the shader cache), read in blocks on demand from a Cloudflare Worker and cached in the browser, with the play link setting a cache of up to 6 GB. Playground.ru reports nearly 700 MB downloaded on a first start plus shader compilation, and its readers mention freezes and missing sound. Loader notes describe frequent freezes on Android phones with 4 GB of RAM or less.
There is no multiplayer. The landing page and the in-game menu carry a "Support the project" link to a cryptocurrency token page; the token is separate from CD Projekt and from the game. The source code, the build tools and the origin of the hosted game files are not published.

How to play it
- Use desktop Chrome, Edge or Brave (or Chrome on Android) and turn on hardware acceleration in the browser settings.
- Open the game page and keep the tab open; the first load downloads the engine and compiles shaders, which takes several minutes on slower machines.
- Click the game once it appears to capture the mouse. Run only one game tab at a time.
- If loading stops making progress, close other tabs of the game and reload. Do not connect a crypto wallet or enter a CD Projekt or GOG login.
